We help patients realize optimal health through state-of-the-art imaging technologies, proven, research-based clinical protocols, and experienced radiologists who continuously strive for improved accuracy, clarity and comfort.

Edison Radiology uses the most advanced innovations in low-dose CT technologies. Computed Tomography (CT) scans are a fast, non-invasive and painless tool to identify abnormalities and make better-informed decisions related to patient care. Our equipment is state of the art, including 256 slice CT scanners, which allow for quick and accurate imaging.

Edison provides extensive CT capabilities including:

  • Abdominal and Pelvic CT

Fast and high-definition CT scan of abdominal and/or pelvic organs.

  • Virtual Colonoscopy

Noninvasive CT exam of the large intestine for cancer and/or polyps.

  • Cardiac Calcium Scoring CT

Noninvasive CT which produce pictures of the coronary arteries to evaluate for calcifications – an indicator for atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease (CAD).

  • Lung Screening CT

Screening CT scan which allows the radiologist to assess the lungs to detect small nodules or cancer which are not visualized on standard chest X-rays.

  • Neuroradiology CT

Imaging to evaluate the brain, spine and spinal cord, orbits, facial bones, temporal bones, and neck.

  • Coronary CTA

Uses an injection of intravenous contrast material and CT imaging to examine the coronary arteries which supply blood to the heart to determine if they are narrowed.

  • CT Angiography

A test that provides detailed pictures of the heart and the blood vessels that go to the heart, lung, brain, kidneys, head, neck, legs, and arms. A CT angiogram can show narrowed or blocked areas of a blood vessel, as well as a bulge (aneurysm) or a buildup of fatty material called plaque in a blood vessel.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses magnetic fields to produce images that are used to assess organs and structures inside the body including the brain, spine, neck, chest, and abdomen. MRI is a noninvasive exam that is painless and does not require the use of X-rays or ionizing radiation. Edison Radiology uses MRI to rule out health issues and for the early discovery of medical conditions. It is a highly-sensitive exam which produces very detailed images that radiologists can use to identify pathology.

Edison MRI services include:

  • Body MRI

This test uses a powerful magnetic field to produce detailed pictures of the inside of your body. It may be used to help diagnose or monitor treatment for a variety of conditions within the chest, abdomen and pelvis. This technique is a highly-sensitive diagnostic tool that produces extremely detailed images of some of the smallest structures within the body. We perform specialized exams such as MR enterography, MR defecography, and prostate MR. We are capable of performing an MRI on most recently implanted cardiac pacemakers.

  • Breast MRI

This study is often used as a complementary study to mammography when additional information is required and to help Edison patients make well-informed decisions about their breast health. For women with a high risk of breast disease, breast MRI can be a valuable tool for early diagnosis and cure. We perform breast MR core biopsy, a complement to standard mammographic imaging, diagnosis, and treatment.

  • Neuroradiology MRI -

This test allows the radiologist to capture multiple wafer-thin images that are used in the diagnosis of abnormalities of the brain, spine, and head and neck. Specialized exams including MR spectroscopy and tractography.

  • Musculoskelatal MRI

Musculoskeletal MRI is a non-invasive test that uses a powerful magnetic field, to produce detailed pictures of joints, soft tissues and bones including the knee, shoulder, ankle and wrist. Our offices perform specialized protocols for patients with metallic orthopedic hardware.

  • MRA/MRV

With visualizing blood vessels, it's important to understand the difference between Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) and Magnetic Resonance Venography (MRV). An MRA is used to look at arteries (a type of blood vessel that brings oxygen-rich blood to the body's organs) while MRV looks at veins (which bring blood back to the heart). Typically, this exam will require an injection of a contrast material to enhance the visibility of the vessels. Edison radiologist are specialists in the interpretion of these tests.

Edison Radiology has an uncompromised commitment to exceptional patient care. All of Edison radiologists are board certified by the American Board of Radiology and most women's health radiogists have sub-specialty fellowship training. Our radiologists are supported by highly talented and certified technologists who also have specialized training in their specific fields.

Edison provides a wide array of women's imaging services including:

  • Screening Mammography

A low-dose X-ray examination of a woman's breasts used to detect breast cancer when that cancer is too small to be felt as a lump.

  • Diagnostic Mammography

An X-ray examination of the breasts that's typically requested when a person, their doctor or a health professional discovers unusual signs or symptoms in one or both breasts; that is, a lump, tenderness, nipple discharge or skin changes.

  • 3D Mammography

Also known as breast tomosynthesis, it is considered one of the most advanced technologies available for detecting breast abnormalities.  3D mammography utilizes multiple low-dose images from different angles around the breast to create a 3-D picture.  3D mammography is performed at all of our locations.  More cancers may be diagnosed with 3D mammography than with traditional 2D mammograms.  The number of false positives may also be reduced with 3D mammography.  Our radiologists are experienced and trained to properly interpret these results.  Women with dense breasts, in particular, may benefit from 3D mammography since it provides a clearer picture.

  • Breast Ultrasound

Breast structures can vary from patient-to-patient.  Breasts ultrasounds, read by experienced radiologists, can help visualize abnormalities and lumps to assist in intepreting potential breast issues. It is a useful tool in helping to see potential issues from a different perspective.

  • Breast Biopsy

A minimally invasive breast imaging study (either ultrasound-guided, stereotactic guided or MRI guided) is used to sample a suspicious area in your breast to determine whether it is breast cancer or benign. Local anesthesia is used to obtain a tissue sample using a specialized needle.  The sample is sent to a pathologist to examine the cells under a microscope.  Although breast biopsies are necessary to confirm diagnosis, our staff understands the anxiety that patients experience when undergoing a breast biopsy and we try to minimize the time and inconvenience as much as possible.

For Breast Biopsies: (732)744-5688

  • Breast MRI

A complementary study used as a screening and diagnostic tool for the detection and evaluation of breast anomalies. Breast MRIs can reduce the cost and risk that is associated with late diagnosis.  In addition, they help physicians make better decisions regarding patient cases.

  • Uterine artery embolization

Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat fibroid tumors of the uterus which can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, and pressure on the bladder or bowel. This treatment is an alternative to open surgery and Edison radiologists are familiar in performing these minimally invasive procedures.

  • Venous Interventions

Procedures treating deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolus (PE), placing IVC filters, and venous access.

  • Spinal Interventions, Pain Management

Used to diagnose and treat vertebral body fractures and disc problems. Imaging technology precisely guides minimally invasive procedures with needles, catheters and other devices to alleviate back pain.

  • Visceral Arteriography and Interventions

Minimally invasive testments of the arteries feeding the bowel and abdominal organs due to bleeding, aneurysm or other pathologies.

  • GI/GU Interventions

Minimally invasive treatments of the bowel or genitourinary system including gastrostomy tubes (feeding tubes) and nephrstomy tubes.

  • PAD Interventions

The interventional treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD) has changed significantly with endovascular revascularization replacing surgically invasive procedures as the dominant therapy.
